Initial research for a new film magazine.
What does the cover look like?The covers of the film magazines is very colourful,interesting and action packed and will grab someones attention with a singular person standing on the front cover and my film magazine that i am looking at was issued in October 2015 and it has a picture of the character James Bond in the centre of the page and through out the entire cover of the page the colour blue is highly accented from some of the names within the title to the blue in his eyes and it makes the aesthetic of the colour look much better because the cover has one simple colour pallet and not multiple different colours making the cover look chaotic and messy but instead it looks nice and clean in a way.
What is featured on the cover page? On the cover page there is writing talking about the cover picture and also sub-headings mentioning things that feature within the magazine.
Does it have a centre page spread? The centre page spread is usually mentioning or interviewing the person or film that is on the front of the magazine cover because maybe their film is very popular or they are a very famous actor so they have the biggest spread in there.
Does it have interviews? Usually film magazines will contain interviews from someone a movie press release or red carpet for example but the majority do contain interviews.
Contests for readers? The majority of magazines do have contests for readers and in some cases is one of the ways magazines make their money from readers calling in and getting charged. But it shows that the magazines are interacting with their audience.
Film reviews? A film magazine will obviously have film reviews because if not what is the point of a film magazine. But yes there is film reviews telling readers what movies are good and what movies are not good. Giving the readers information and maybe causing them to buy the magazine again if they agreed with the review that the magazine gave of the movie.
Compare two different film magazines. I compared a magazine from Total Film and one from Empire.In my opinion the cover that Total Film created was more eye-catching for the reader because they changed the entire aesthetic of the magazine cover to match that of the aesthetic of the movie that was featured on the cover. However on the other hand the empire magazine seemed very professional and also matched the theme to what the movie on the cover was so also going by a certain aesthetic.
